Port Authority of NY and NJ - Howland Hook Marine Terminal – Crane Rail
|
Staten Island, NY - Install 171 LF crane rail as part of container terminal
- Coordinate with other project construction activities including delivery of new cranes
- Winter work – grout pour despite record cold temperatures
- Work completed on-time
Installed 2880 LF of crane rail as part of a berth extension/berth strengthening project. This was a multi-phase project with many discrete work areas. Complications in other phases of the project resulted in the need for a temperature-sensitive grout pour during winter 2004/2005. RCC worked closely with Granite Halmar to devise and implement a rail trench and grout heating plan. Despite record cold temperatures, the grout pout was successful, and the extension placed into service when needed. Start of Construction 12/2004 –completion 9/2006. |
