Installed Electronic Toll Collection System as designed by Adesta and Gannett Fleming. The project was implemented in many stages. Work was completed for the Atlantic City Expressway and The Delaware Department of Transportation by December of 2000. Phased Deployment for New Jersey included the installation of AVC and AVI equipment in 163 lanes on the GS Parkway and 161 lanes on the NJ Turnpike and was completed in September 2000. Installation also included lightning protection at all of the plazas and administration buildings, installation of Sign and Yellow lights, UPS installation, generator and service upgrades, transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS), video transaction data multiplexer (VTDM) installation, and security access in the Parkway and Turnpike administration buildings. Civil work included installation of 334 treadles on the Parkway and 228 on the Turnpike, chopping and patching of 707 islands to support the electrical installation, 41 island extensions, 18 bumper block plate installations, installation of duct banks for power and communications, and installation of traffic loop detectors in the lanes. Electrical work included the installation of all toll collection equipment in the lanes including AVI antennas, hood detectors, over height sensors, patron feedback displays (PFDs), radar, IR curtains, and violation enforcement system (VES) lights and cameras. Work also involved the installation of booth equipment including legacy interface (temporarily integrates the new ETC system and current revenue collection system), DATIMs, card readers, receipt printers, ticket transports, and touch terminals. |
