Edison, New Jersey • Upgrade existing yard track by replacing 3,300 LF track • Furnished 2,200 tons of clean ballast • Replace & upgrade 4 turnouts • Raise/surface/align upgraded tracks and turnouts • Work performed while yard in service The project focused on the upgrade to yard tracks #1, #2, and existing #5 (renamed #6) and adding a new #5 track. A total of 3,300 l.f. track was installed. Also included was the replacement of four turnouts. All ties and timber used on the project were new and the rail was upgraded to 130# material. All necessary compromise joints were furnished and installed. Approximately 2,200 tons of 1-1/2 clean stone ballast was installed during the term of the project. Railroad Construction Company, Inc. was responsible for the removal and disposal of the existing track. The successful completion of the project provided the client with upgraded yard tracks in a state of good repair to successfully handle larger railcars. Start of Construction – July 2004 Completion – November 2004. |
