• Heavy traffic on adjacent tracks
• Needed flexibility to handle changes in pre-planned track outages

Project included the construction of 3,290 feet of new welded double track in a busy Conrail Interlocked located in Newark, NJ. Reconstruction of the interlocking required the installation of 4 #15 turnouts, 1 #15 crossover the relocation of 1 existing #15 crossover and the removal of 1 #15 crossover.  Track was tied in and placed in service at the end of each outage.  Along with track construction, RCC forces performed clearing, grading, subgrade installation, access road construction and site electrical work.  Close coordination was required with Conrail C&S (communication and signal) forces who handled all signal work.

Project started November 2005 and completed July 2006.
